Number of Hits: 99 Report DeadlinkI'm James Borders from Macon, Georgia, but you can call me "Tractorboy". This is my 1935 John Deere B 1935 model serial #7883 . A friend I work with told me about an old tractor that was setting in a man's yard not too far from where I live, so I went a looking and sure enough there it was . Bob Davenport's Collector Homepage
Number of Hits: 2 Report DeadlinkHello, My name is Bob Davenport and this is my first attempt at a homepage. Please be patient while this page is under construction.
I am a grain farmer from Christian Co. Ky. I primarily raise corn, wheat, and soybeans. I also raise Burley tobacco. My farming operation is about 700 acres in size and most crops are no-tilled. My county is pretty much where no-till type farming began. I would like to hear from other farmers around the US so please send E-mail with comments about my homepage or questions about farming in Ky.
Picture is of my 1950 model C Farmall that my dad purchased new. I was 12 years old at the time and am now 59. I use it with a 6' Woods belly mower to mow around the farm. I also own a 1949 Farmall Cub I am in process of restoring.

British Anzani Engineering Co. Ltd.
"The British Anzani Engineering Co. at Hampton Hill in Middlesex, manufacturers of aeroplane and speed boat engines, introduced the British Anzani Iron Horse in 1940. It had a 6-hp J.A.P. four-stroke air-cooled engine, oil bath air cleaner and Wico magneto. A centrifugal clutch engaged the drive to the steel wheels through a three forward and reverse gearbox when the engine reached a speed of 750 rpm.
Hand-lever-operated independent dog clutches in the drive to the wheels enabled the Iron Horse to make very sharp turns on the headland. Caution was required as the engine power would swing the handlebars round with some force and could easily knock the operator off his feet. Spade lug wheels were standard equipment and track width was adjustable from 24 to 36 in. for ploughing and row-crop work. Optional extras included a side-mounted belt pulley suitable for a saw bench and other stationary equipment. The British Anzani Iron Horse cost 107 pounds 16s 0d in 1940, and pneumatic tyres were an extra 10 pounds ; the price had increased to 130 by 1945.
Hire purchase terms for the British Anzani in 1948 required a 35 pounds deposit with two years to pay the the balance. Alternatively the Iron Horse and a selection of implements could be hired for 3 pounds 10s 0d per week."
On a undated ad, the 6-hp Iron Horse was 140 pounds and the smaller 1-hp Motor Hoe 44 pounds -10, supplied with Hoeing Blades and Grubbing Tines.

As time progresses I will be adding more webpage based content to the site, from serial number lists to just any type of information about different brands of iron that have come and gone. My intentions with this site is to treat it like an online club of sorts, as I have said in the past the members of the site dictate where this site is heading and without the help of the members there would be no site. Strait's Antique Tractors
Number of Hits: 119 Report DeadlinkI started collecting antique tractors in 1994 when my Grandfather who was then 88 years old allowed my dad to give me his 1950 International M. Grandpa always took very good care of the tractor and my father used it for several years. I got the tractor and I spent the next 18 months restoring it. After it was done My grandfather saw it and decided that I had done such a good job with it that my son should have the tractor. My son was only 2 years old at the time. Grandpa always seems to get his way so the tractor is now Jake's. This tractor has gone through four generations and never been out of the family since it was new. I enjoy taking the tractor and my family to shows and antique pulls. I have won several trophies with the M and more importantly have an enjoyable time with my family and friends at these events. Grandpa, I'm sorry to say passed away in 2004 at the ripe old age of 98.
